Michael Manuel Espinola

January 27, 1939 — January 23, 2015

On January 23, 2015 Michael 'Mike' Manuel Espinola, age 75, of La Grande, passed away leaving his loved ones with fond memories of an exemplary man. He was dedicated to his family. His work ethics were beyond reproach and he was strictly honest. The most often comment we hear in condolences are "Mike was a good man".

Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 10:00 until 12:00 noon at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. A funeral will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the Blue Mtn. Humane Association in care of Daniels~Knopp, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mike was born on January 27, 1939, the son of Manuel and Sarah (Ferriea) Espinola in Stanfield, Oregon. He graduated from Stanfield High School with the class of 1957. He attended one year at EOSC. In 1958 he married Joanne Otis in Stanfield. They moved to La Grande in 1962 and he worked for Boise Cascade for 31 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the Optimist Club. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He enjoyed antiques, traveling and was a craftsman.

Survivors include his wife Joanne of La Grande; sons, Randall Espinola of Kennewick, Washington and Rick Espinola of Cove; 3 granddaughters, Tierra, Megan and Alisha; siblings, Larry Espinola of La Grande, Joeann Murphy of Grants Pass and Rita Bowman of Heppner; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by sisters, Gloria Clapper and Dolly Murphy.
