Merryanne Partney Steele

MerryAnne Partney Steele, age 60, of La Grande and formerly of Pilot Rock and Bend, died Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital of natural causes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

MerryAnne was born on April 4, 1943, the daughter of Carlton and Lois (Cameron) Luck in Pendleton, Oregon. She graduated from Pilot Rock High School and later from Eastern Oregon State College (now Eastern Oregon University) with a degree in Journalism. On September 22, 1963 she married Richard Partney and they were married for 27 years. She then married Brian Steele and that marriage later ended in divorce.

She was a homemaker, volunteer and managed ladies apparel stores in Bend and Cannon Beach. MerryAnne was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of PEO in Bend and attended Chapter C in La Grande. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, cooking, walking, and reading.

Survivors include her children, Mary Cameron and Craig Porter of Pilot Rock, Michael and Tracy Partney of La Grande and Joseph and Carol Partney of La Grande; grandchildren, Nicholas Easterling of Pilot Rock and Brandon Partney, Blake Partney, Breanna Partney and Chelsie Partney, all of La Grande; and other relatives and friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
