Merle Elaine Swindall

Merle Elaine Swindall, age 87, of La Grande and formerly of Eugene, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007. To sign the on-line guest book visit www.danielschapel.com.

Mrs. Swindall was born on February 7, 1920 in Eugene, Oregon, the daughter of Benjamin and Nora (Stevenson) Pittsley. She was married to Martin Monroe Bowser who preceded her in death in 1950. She later married Larry Gene Swindall and he preceded her in death in 1979. She spent most of her life in the Eugene area until moving to La Grande five years ago to be near her daughter.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and working crossword puzzles. She liked to make things and enjoyed taking walks.

Survivors include her children, Sandra and Phillip Young of La Grande, Martin and Katrina Bowser of Eugene and Fredrick Jon Swindall of Portland; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Doris Pittsley of Eugene; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Lyle Stedman of Eugene; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
