Maurice "Bud" Willett

August 31, 1908 — May 1, 2004

Maurice Gordon "Bud" Willett, age 95 of La Grande, and formerly of Imbler, died, Saturday, May 1, 2004 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Interment will follow at the Summerville Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5 2004 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande.



Maurice Gordon "Bud" Willett was born on August 31, 1908 the son of Claude Archer and Margaret Grace (MacKenzie) Willett in Enterprise, Oregon. He spent his early years in Lostine, Oregon. On October 14, 1931, he married Catherine (Mc Kinnis) in Walla Walla, Washington. Together they moved to California where he worked in Richmond in the shipyards during World War II before settling in Tracy, California. After his retirement in 1971 they moved back to the Grande Ronde valley and lived in Imbler until they finally settled in La Grande in 1988.


He was a member to the Odd Fellows Lodge and enjoyed fishing and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include, his wife of 72 years, Catherine Willett of La Grande; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Linda Willett of Boise, Idaho; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. A sister, Carrie Anita Read preceded him in death.
