Maurice Erving Oslund, age 74, of La Grande, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Oslund was born on July 10, 1928, the son of Eric and Gladys (Weed) Oslund in Elma, Washington. He attended schools in Portland and in 1961 he married Zolana Davis in White Salmon, Washington. They moved to La Grande in 1963 and he worked as an independent insurance broker and as a bartender for the Tropidara Restaurant until his retirement.
He was a former member of the Elks and the American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and loved the ocean and coast and enjoyed working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Zolana Oslund of La Grande; children, Jerry and Shannon Courtney of Payette, Idaho, Gene and Terri Courtney of Vancouver, Washington and Greg and Marilyn Henkel of Gresham; nine grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. His parents and a brother, Wally, preceded him in death.
