Maurice C. Lane 74, of Portland and formerly of La Grande, died May 1 at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital. Burial was a Willamette National Cemetery.
Mr. Lane was born Oct. 30, 1929, to Richard W. and Blanche Combes Lane in Taylor, Wash. He attended school in La Grande and graduated from high school in Milwaukie in 1943.
He served in the Air Force and graduated for Eastern Oregon College with a teaching degree. He taught elementary school in the Parkrose School District for 25 years. He volunteered at the Gresham Senior Center for 14 years where he was head of the quilting department.
Survivors include children, Lance Lane of Portland, and Melissa Wiese of Newport; one grandchild and two sisters, Alma Comstock of Pendleton and Betty Trump of Elgin.
A sister, Naomi Terry, died earlier.
