Maryann Hamilton

December 20, 1917 — April 17, 2003

MaryAnn Hamilton, age 85, of La Grande, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at a local care facility.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with Father Hank Albrecht celebrating. Private interment will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery with her husband, Earl. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande.

Mrs. Hamilton was born on December 20, 1917, the daughter of Francis Joseph and Bertha Mae (Alford) Nevins in Huntington, Oregon. She graduated from Huntington High School and University of Oregon. On September 24, 1940 she married Earl Hamilton in Huntington. She worked as a dispatcher for the La Grande and Baker City Police Departments for many years. She was an expert at Graphoanalysis (handwriting) and taught this art to many others. They were snow birders and spent much time in Tuscan and Palm Desert. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1980. Three years ago she moved to Portland and 6 months ago she returned to La Grande

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed ceramics, leather tooling, making rugs and sewing.

Survivors include her daughter Margaret Ann Hamilton-Miller of Portland; son, Michael D. Hamilton of California; grandchildren, Margaret Mary McLean, Earl M. Hamilton, Todd D. Miller, Scott D. Miller, and Valerie J. Hamilton; great grandchildren, Chance, Dakota and Donovan; and other relatives and friends. A half-sister preceded her in death.
