Mary Ruth Troyer

March 16, 1937 — January 4, 2011

Mary Ruth Troyer, age 73, of La Grande, died January 4, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, La Grande. A funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at Daniels~Knopp. Private interment will be at the Hillcrest East Cemetery.

Mary Ruth was born on March 16, 1937, the daughter of Cornett and Florence (French) Green in Heppner, Oregon. She was raised in Heppner and graduated from Heppner High School. She attended Eastern Oregon University for two years. She was married to Monte Carnes from 1957 to 1978. On October 6, 1984 she married Glenn Troyer in Joseph, Oregon. When her children where in school she worked for Fitzgerald Flowers as well as being a homemaker.
Mary Ruth attended the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Delta Epsilon Sorority and the La Grande Country Club, where she served a term as President of the Women's Club. She was involved in establishing the Quilt Questers and belonged to a bridge club. She was quite the craftswoman and enjoyed many different types of crafting including toll painting, crocheting and quilting and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed antiquing, going to garage sales and flea markets, gardening and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Troyer of La Grande; children and their spouses, Michael and Shelly Carnes of Boise, Marci and Robin Bartlett of La Grande, Cathy and Clyde Shaffer of Sitka, Alaska, Terri and Craig Smith of Hermiston, Glenda and Mick Tisher of Sitka, Alaska and Nathan Troyer of Boise; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers and their spouses, Marian and Marlys Green of Pendleton, Jim Green of Canby and Steve and Boni Green of Pendleton; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Special Olympics in care of Daniels~Knopp.
