Mary Helen Griffen

Mary Helen Griffin, 88, of Nampa, Idaho, and formerly of Hermiston and La Grande, died Sept. 24. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hillcrest East Cemetery in La Grande.

Mary Helen was born Aug. 31, 1921, to Andrew and Mary (Best) Ryason in Joseph. She graduated from high school in La Grande.

She married Earl Leroy Griffin April 21, 1944, and they lived in Hermiston until 2001, when they moved to La Grande.

She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. She liked camping and fishing and enjoyed making homemade pies and cakes.

She is survived by her children, Tanna and her husband, Ed Williams, of Union, and Vickie and her husband, Mike Montgomery, of Greenleaf, Idaho; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters.
