Mary Jane Conner

November 25, 1920 — July 27, 2002

Mary Jane Conner, age 81, of La Grande died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.


At her request there will be no public services. Interment will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.


Mrs. Conner was born on the 25th day of November in La Grande to George and Anna (Benton) Driskell. She attended La Grande Schools until she married Robert L. Marks in the spring of 1936. They divorced after 8 years. In July of 1945 she married William Henry Conner and they made their home in La Grande.


Mrs. Conner was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was active in the Eagles and the Royal Neighbors. In later years she was an avid bowler and won many awards. She enjoyed camping and fishing and trips to the coast. She also loved her garden and baking her own bread.


Survivors include her sons, Larry Marks of Cove, Marion Marks of Springfield, Richard Marks of John Day and John Conner of Yakima, Washington; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry and only daughter, Elizabeth Marks Olsen, one sister, Opal Graham and brothers, Harold Tingay, Ted Driskell and George "Bill" Driskell.
