Mary Rhodig Cash, 97, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2006 in La Grande. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
Mary was born to James Edward and Elizabeth (Campbell) Taylor in Alamena, Kansas on June 29, 1909. She married Russel L. Rhodig in April of 1932. Born to this union were four children, Twilla, Russel, Charles and Netha. Mary's husband Russel preceded her in death.
In 1982 she married James D. Cash of La Grande. Jim passed away in 1986. Mary enjoyed the love and affection of her stepsons, Bob and Richard and stepdaughter, Phyllis.
Mary was a member of the Church of God for many years. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and Eastern Star. She worked in the bakery at Albertson's for 12 years. She loved her home and family, living in the same house for 51 years. She loved to crochet Afghans and enjoyed reading and studying the bible.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward and Leo Taylor, sisters, Bernice White, Winifred Preston, Inez Phillipe and Betty Taylor as will as a grandson, Rick Carson.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Twilla and Bill Carson of Perry, Russ and Phyllis Rhodig of New Plymouth, Idaho, Chuck and Dolores Rhodig of Oregon City and Netha and Don Lester of Canby; step-children, Bob Cash of La Grande, Richard Cash of Walla Walla and Phyllis and Bil Wells of Newport; sisters, Irene Williams of La Grande, Della McClure and Dorothy Lewis; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
