Marvin Martin Mcclure Hamilton

Marvin Martin McClure Hamilton, age 78, of Hermiston and formerly of Union, died May 14, 2017 in Richland, Washington. A funeral will be held at the Union VFW Hall on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Marvin was born on September 26, 1938, the son of George Lawrence and Juanita (Wilson) Hamilton in Nowata, Oklahoma. The family left Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl era and moved to California. He graduated from high school and then earned an Associate Degree. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Boiler Tech First Class for twenty years until his honorable discharge. He then worked in Civil Service for twenty years.

On November 16, 1961 he married Claudia Nailau at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2015. After her death he moved to Hermiston to be with family. He belonged to The Country Church - Pentecostal Church of God in Hermiston. While in Union he was active with the VFW Post and was a past commander. He was a foster parent and loved to fish. He was very sociable and liked visiting with people. He would often go to the Casino just to visit with people, especially Veterans.

Survivors include his children Tammy Lightfoot of Nebraska, Marcus Hamilton of Seattle, Gena Carter of Oak Hill, Ohio and Marvin Hamilton of Hermiston; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Merle Nelson; brothers, Dutch Hamilton and Samuel Hamilton and other relatives and friends.
