Martha Rose Cameron, age 90, of La Grande, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at her home. At her request there will be no public service. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Cameron was born on November 7, 1914, the daughter of William Edward and Frona (Tift) Zachow in Clayton, Washington. In 1929 she married Harold Vivian Brittain. He preceded her in death in 1951. In 1957 she married Victor Cameron and he preceded her in death in August of 2001.
After the death of her first husband Mrs. Cameron worked for the French Cleaners in Newport, Washington. She also worked at the Albeni Falls Dinner Club and a skating rink. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Newport, Washington for 15 years and later in La Grande where she held several offices. She was a member of the Snowmobile Club and loved snowmobiling. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and scenic drives. Her greatest love was her family.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Robert Harold and Gabrielle Brittain of the Dominican Republic, Phyllis Ann and Clarence Corning of Priest River, Idaho and Joyce Hope and Bob Hockett of Rathdrum, Idaho; sister-in-law, Birdie Brittain of Medallion Falls, Washington; step-son and his wife, Mike and Violet Cameron of Moscow, Idaho; Nine Grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Marilyn Zachow of Island City; sisters, Reta Hoxie of Island City and Clara Wiscarson of Salem; and other relatives and friends. Her son, Leo Claude Brittain preceded her in death.
