Marlene Sarrett

June 1, 1935 — October 23, 2005

Marlene Sarrett, 70, of La Grande and formerly of Wallowa County died October 23, 2005 at her home. A graveside service will begin at 1 pm Thursday at The Bramlet Cemetery in Wallowa.

Mrs. Sarrett was born June 1, 1935, to LeRoy and Linda Boyd Hulse in La Grande. She attended school in Wallowa and on June 28, 1952 married Jack Sarrett in Lewiston, Idaho. She spent some time working for the Forest Service as a lookout and worked in the kitchen at the Joseph school. She later went to work as a clerk for the Postal Service, and eventually became postmaster. She retired after 20 years. She enjoyed antiques, painting, quilting, crafts, genealogy and being with her family.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Charles and Carma Sarrett and Robert and Sandy Sarrett, all of La Grande and Douglas and Linda Sarrett of Phoenix, Arizona; siblings and their spouses, Harold and Dodie Hulse, Gary and Marilyn Hulse and Duane Hulse, all of Wallowa and Elaine and Bob Durrer of Cloverdale and other relatives. Her husband, two sisters, Sharon and Vera Jean and a brother, Dale, all died earlier. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, 2301 Adams Avenue, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
