Marjorie Jean Masterson, age 90 of La Grande and formerly of Baker City, died Thursday, March 28th at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5th at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland, Oregon.
Marjorie was born on August 13, 1928 in Baker City to Herbert and Sybil (Carpenter) Hunt. She was educated in Baker graduating with the class of 1946 before attending Eastern Oregon College where she earned a degree in secretarial science. On June 5, 1949 she was married to Norman Masterson in Baker City. The couple lived in Ontario, Corvallis, South Twin Lakes and on Government Island in the middle of the Columbia River before returning to Corvallis and then moving to La Grande. Marjorie worked in clerical and secretarial jobs until her children were born, she then was a full time mom.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers, canning fruit, baking (especially cobblers), fishing and traveling.
Survivors include her sons, Mark of La Grande and Glen and his wife Nancy of Arcadia, MI; a sister, Dorothy Hunt of La Grande; 2 grandchildren Austin and Emily and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
