Marjorie Lola Jarvis, age 101, of La Grande, died January 9, 2020 at her home.
A memorial service for her and her daughter, Kathleen Hatton and daughter-in-law, Joan "Joni" Kendall Jarvis, will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 3 p.m. at The Barn at Tamarack Springs. Burial was at the Summerville Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Marjorie was born on April 8, 1918, the daughter of Miles and Katie (Baker) Woodell in Summerville, Oregon. She graduated from Imbler High School and later from Eastern Oregon Normal School. She taught for one year at the Pumpkin Ridge School House. On June 11, 1938 she married Joe W. Jarvis in Portland, Oregon. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska for 30 years before returning to the Grande Ronde Valley. She was a member of the Blue Mtn. Chapter Order of Eastern Star #52 and the Jewel Rebekah Lodge in Summerville. She was the basic rock of the family and extended family. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, sewing and the Seattle Mariners.
Survivors include her children, Joe and Joni Jarvis of Cove and Kathleen and John Hatton of Imbler; two grandchildren, Patti and Joseph Hansen of Plano, Texas and Christopher Hatton of Singapore; two great grandchildren, Ashley Johnson of Vancouver and Olivia Hatton of Singapore; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe; sisters, Inez Fries and Ava Paul; brother, Lloyd Woodell and grandson, J. Wesley Jarvis.
