Marjorie Ellen (Gray) Dohnal

September 19, 1934 — December 7, 2011

Marjorie E. (Gray) Dohnal, of La Grande, died Wednesday at her home. She was 77. She was born at Hilgard to John E. and Beulah M. (Francis) Gray on September 19, 1934. She was a lifelong resident of Oregon. She attended grade school at Hilgard and graduated with La Grande High School class of 1952.

Marjorie enjoyed camping and was an excellent fisherwoman. Other favorite pastimes included oil painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing and other needlework and enjoyed genealogy. She was involved in the community over the years in PTA, Grande Ronde Hospital Auxiliary, served as head of the canning department at the Union County Fair and served as treasurer of the La Grande Chapter of American Cancer Society. When not working as a licensed real estate agent, licensed tax preparer, bookkeeper or retail salesperson, she enjoyed referring to herself as a "domestic engineer."

She was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer and James Gray, her parents and many other loved ones. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Elvin "Al" Dohnal of La Grande; sons, Rick Dohnal of Seattle and Todd Dohnal of Pendleton; daughter, Cheri Donhal of La Grande; brother, John Gray, Sr. of Hilgard; grandchildren, Logan and Jessi Winger, Megan, Courtney and Josiah Dohnal, Corey Caponetto and Alyssa and Katie Williams; great grandsons, Jackson Dohnal, Aidan Winger and Tristan Winger; and many friends and relatives. No services will be held at Marjorie's request. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
