Marjorie Boyd De Boie

April 25, 1921 — January 8, 2003

Marjorie Boyd DeBoie, age 81, of Woodburn and formerly of La Grande, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2003 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with Father Hank Albrecht conducting. Interment and committal will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.


Marjorie was born on April 25, 1921 in La Grande to Bert A. and Adelia M. (Boie) Rogers. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in La Grande, La Grande Public Schools, Eastern Oregon College and Oregon State College. On December 17, 1941 she married Paul W. Boyd in Corvallis. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1971. On December 8, 1980 she married E. Erle DeBoie and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1989.


Marjorie worked as secretary-clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad, in property management and in food marketing. She served on the Union County Educational Service District as a board member for three terms. She pledged Kappa Delta Sorority at Corvallis was a member of the local and state Oregon P.T.A. and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She belonged to the Tri-Mtn. Good Sam Club and the Portland Single Sams. She was also a member of the Wallowa Lake Homeowner's Association for many years, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.


Marjorie enjoyed travel, sports, cooking, sewing, swimming, knitting and crocheting. She volunteered at the Lake Oswego High School and was a one-on-one tutor in sewing for La Grande Adult Education.


Survivors include her sons, Paul "Bill" Boyd of Salem and Robert "Brian" Boyd of Joseph; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; step-children, Mel DeBoie of Salt Lake City, Utah and Annette Holmes of Oregon City; one niece, Linda Rogers of Pendleton, many cousins and other relatives and friends. Her brother, John, preceded her in death.
