Marion Herschel "Dusty" Miller, 96, of La Grande, died Aug. 9 at a local nursing center. His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lighthouse Church, 10501 W. First St., Island City. Burial will be at Island City Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.
He was born Feb. 8, 1914, to Milburn and Thresha (Barnhart) Miller at Ashboro, Ind. He spent his life in Indiana and Tennessee before moving to Oregon about 1952.
Dusty was a heavy machinery and auto mechanic. He worked in coal mines and on the New York Central Railroad. He was proud to ride with the Wabash Valley Motorcycle Club of Indiana.
On Nov. 28, 1942, he married Vavid Howard in Rossville, Ga.
His favorite activities were fishing, hunting and working on cars and boats.
He is survived by his children, Zondra Hensley, Wondra Hamblen, Charles Miller, Judy Walker and Tony Miller, all of La Grande; brothers, Robert Musgrave, Ray Musgrave and Marvin Musgrave, all of Indiana; and sister, Carrie Lawson of Indiana; 14 grand children; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vavid; son, Earl Miller; parents; stepfather, Burt Musgrave; brothers, Dale Miller and Ralph Musgrave; and sisters, Mary Holingsworth and Dorothy Crouse.
