Marion June Crippin

October 25, 1931 — May 9, 2006

Marion June Crippin, 74, of Montrose, Colorado and formerly of La Grande died May 9, 2006 at a care center. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main Street in Montrose with the Rev. Ronnie Hanna officiating. Burial will be at the Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose.

Mrs. Crippin was born October 25, 1931 to Franklin Clay and Virginia Hanna Horn in Oceanside, California. She graduated from high school in Arco, Idaho and on December 27, 1950, married Harry Vern Crippin in Oceanside. The couple worked as funeral directors in Idaho, Arizona and Oregon, and owned funeral homes in Idaho, Oregon and Montana. They lived in La Grande from about 1965 to 1985 where they owned the Crippin-Daniels Funeral Home for a time.

She volunteered with the Girl Scouts in California and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, the National Federation of Republican Women, the Jaycetts and the Oregon Lady Elk. She held country club memberships in Idaho, Arizona and Oregon. She enjoyed knitting, fine stitchery, crochet, mosaics and being with her family. She had a good sense of humor and always came up with witty and clever sayings. She will be remembered as a caring and gentle lady.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Greg and Julia Crippin, Kelly and Carla Crippin and Kirk Crippin, all of Montrose, Colorado; four grandchildren and other relatives. Her husband died in 2001.
