Marilyn Alyce Winterton

January 24, 1934 — June 5, 2017

Marilyn Alyce Winterton, age 83, of La Grande, died June 5, 2017 at her home. At this time no services are planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Marilyn was born on January 24, 1934 in Redfield, South Dakota to John and Wilma (Baker) Bruins, the 5th of 10 children. The family moved to La Grande when she was a child and she graduated from La Grande High School in 1952. Later that year she married Ralph Winterton. She worked many jobs to include waitressing at the Royal Cafe and The Fountain. She then worked as manager of the 88 cent Store before working security for Payless Drug Store. She enjoyed knitting, camping, puzzles, crosswords and NASCAR, her favorite driver being Kevin Harwick.

Survivors include her sons, Randy and wife, Terri of La Grande and Rick of La Grande; brothers, Johnny, Oscar and Jim; sisters, Myrna, Sally and Lila; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters, Carol and Sharon, brother, Cecil, grandson, Jerrod and husband, Ralph.
