Marie Genevieve Walsh

Marie Genevieve Walsh, age 86, recently of Elgin, Oregon and formerly of San Lorenzo, California died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at her home.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary in San Leandro, California. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary. Entombment will follow at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hayward, California. Local arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon.

Mrs. Walsh was born on July 26, 1916, the daughter of Pete and Saddie (Dodds) King in Wergeland Township, Minnesota. She was educated in Minnesota and on October 7, 1936 she married John D. Walsh in Minnesota. They later moved to California and she lived in her home in San Lorenzo for 40 years. She recently moved to Elgin to be near family.

Mrs. Walsh was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She became a member of the San Lorenzo Moose Lodge #1640 in 1990. She and her husband loved to dance. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1984.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Joan Walsh of Elgin; grandchildren, Brian Walsh of Georgetown, California and Denise Walsh, Desiree Sally and Laurie Anderson, all of Garden Valley, California; nine great grandchildren; sister, Bernice Donovan of Rochester, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
