Margaret Mollie Paullus

October 14, 1924 — December 27, 2005

Margaret Mollie Paullus, age 81, of La Grande, and formerly of Coquille, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at her home. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Myrtle Point, Oregon. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Paullus was born on October 14, 1924, the daughter of John and Amelia "Molly" (Schulties) Wersh in Tennant, California. As a teenager her father died and she helped her mother with her sisters. In the early 1940's she married E.R. "Smoke" Wylie, the marriage later ended in divorce. She had her own bookkeeping and tax business, Wylie Bookkeeping Service and Acheson Rentals for many years and her work was her life. In December of 1985 she married Norman J. Paullus, Sr. in Bridge, Oregon. They moved to La Grande a year ago to be near family.

Mrs. Paullus was a member of the Myrtle Point Community Church and the Coquille Emblem Club. She was involved with the Food Bank of Myrtle Point and was named Citizen of the Year of Myrtle Point in 1997. She enjoyed hosting family get-togethers, cooking and canning. She always saw the good in everyone.

Survivors include her husband, Norman J. Paullus, Sr. of La Grande; children, Terry "Shawn" and Aileen Wylie of Newport, Jule' and Norman J. Paullus, Jr. of La Grande and William Anthony Grove of Keizer, Oregon; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Alice O'Shea of Tacoma, Washington, Dorothy Babb of Coquille and Molly Clark of Sun City, Arizona and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Rae Grove.
