Margaret Higgason

Margaret Higgason, age 73, died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at her home in Union. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Union with Father Hank Albrecht officiating. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Higgason was born on February 20, 1930 to Hugh and Alma (Riepen) Cox in Clatskanie, Oregon. She graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1946. On June 9, 1961 she married Bryan Higgason in Longview, Washington. Together they moved to the Grande Ronde Valley and settled in Cove in 1961. In 1964 they moved to their home in Union. Margaret was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed square dancing, the outdoors which included trips to the mountains, gardening, traveling to Arizona, and being active in supporting her children in their sporting events and other activities. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Bryan Higgason of Union; children, Sue and Richard Irvin of Kuna, Idaho, Lynn Murrill of Arlington, Oregon, Carol and Michael Donnell of Canby, Oregon, Bryan and Ariadne Higgason of West New York, New Jersey; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a cousin Betty Weiland of Coos Bay, Oregon, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Alan and Diane Johnson and a brother Hugh Richard Cox.
