Marcel Walker, 89, of Union, died peacefully Oct. 17 of cancer. A memorial service was held today at Bollman Funeral Home.
Marcel was born Feb. 17, 1921. She was married to Max Walker for 63 years. They lived at many locations in Wallowa County including Paradise, Lost Prairie and Day Ridge. They moved to Peck, Idaho, for a number of years then returned to Enterprise and finally settled in Union.
Those who knew Marcel say she was quick to speak her mind.
Survivors include her sons, Dick and his wife, Carol Walker, of Union and Don and his wife, Luana Walker of Kettle Falls, Wash.; daughter, Dianne Walker of Dillon, Mont.; sisters, Marian Bowmen of La Grande, Mary Lou Hoffman of Hermiston and Sally Akin of Lostine; brothers, Duke and his wife, Rhee Lathrop, of Lostine, Melvin and his wife, Joan Lathrop of Leap and Wayne and his wife, JoAnn Lathrop, of Enterprise; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Walker; son, L. Dee Walker; sisters, Muriel Lathrop and Gladys Yost; brothers, Quentin Lathrop, Ollis "Jiggs" Lathrop, Harold "Shorty" Lathrop and Leo "Tuff" Lathrop; and her parents, Louis V. Lathrop and Hazel Lathrop.
