Lyle "Sid" Sylvester Roberts, Jr.

Lyle Sylvester "Sid" Roberts, Jr., 72, of La Grande and formerly of Wallowa County, died Tuesday, May 27 at a local care center.

A private family gathering will be held later this summer.

Lyle Sylvester Roberts, Jr. was born on March 14, 1936 in Enterprise to Lyle Sylvester, Sr. and Helen Emily (Allen) Roberts. He grew up on acreage between Wallowa and Lostine and was educated in Wallowa, graduating with the Wallowa High School class of 1954. After high school he served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U. S Forest Service where he worked trails, fought fires and worked in the fire warehouse.

When he was younger Lyle loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and
fishing, especially sturgeon fishing on the Snake River. He enjoyed working with horses and was very devoted to his family. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Wallowa.

Survivors include his sister, Kathie Baremore of Elgin; brother,
Daniel Roberts of Joseph; nieces and nephew, TracyAnn Bolton of Terrebonne, Seth Roberts of Bend and Heather Stafford of Eugene. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Contributions in memory of Lyle S. Roberts may be made to a favorite
charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande.
