Lurley Alveda Sutton

November 22, 1926 — March 2, 2005

Lurley Alveda Sutton, age 78, of Gresham and formerly of La Grande, died March 2, 2005, at a care center. Mrs. Sutton was born November 22, 1926 to Claus and Alveda Morrison Sass in Richland. She graduated from Richland High School and moved to Portland where she worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. On June 30, 1946 she married Clyde Sutton in Richland. The couple lived in Vernonia for many years and lived in La Grande from 1999 to 2001. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and being with people. She was known for making her "cotton-filled biscuits."

Survivors include children and their spouses, Sandra and Jerry Bruce of Gresham, and Sherry & Jerry Hays of La Grande; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orin Sass of Baker City and Norman Sass of Yuba City, California; two sisters-in-law, Madge Heman and Wally Sutton; and other relatives.
