Lucile Elston

Lucile Elston, age 94, of Union, died July 21, 2005 at a local care facility. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Elston was born on June 19, 1911, the daughter of Amos T.D. and Hazel (Baldwin) Stitzel in Caldwell, Idaho. She was raised and attended school in the Jordan Valley country. On July 3, 1929 she married Frank Lamkin, who died in 1966. In December of 1973 she married Harold Elston and he died in 1996.

Mrs. Elston loved to travel, horseback trips into the high lakes, camping, family gatherings and the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show. She was a former member of the Mavericks and the Range Riders Horse Riding Club.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Betty and Roger Johnson of Wilbur, Washington, Barbara and Jim Allenbaugh of Union and Jim Lamkin and Susan Smith of Clackamas, Oregon; siblings, Mary Dodds, Edna Hewitt and Marion Stitzel, all of Union; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bobcat Foundation Scholarship Fund or the charity of choice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
