Lowell Gene Clinkenbeard, age 57, of La Grande, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at his home. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Clinkenbeard was born on January 23, 1950, the son of Kenneth Lowell and Fern Ilene (Harbaugh) Clinkenbeard in Aurora, Missouri. His family moved to Union County when he was 18 and they lived near Elgin. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and after an honorable discharge returned to Union and Umatilla Counties and worked in concrete construction business. On May 27, 2006 he married Katherine Glen in Elgin. He was an avid motorcycle rider and built motorcycle trikes. He also made swords and walking sticks and collected knives.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Clinkenbeard of La Grande; mother, Fern Ilene Clinkenbeard of La Grande; children, Candy Rose Clinkenbeard of Pendleton, Russell Gene Clinkenbeard of Salem, Lowell Phillip Clinkenbeard of Portland and Alice Ilene Clinkenbeard of Pendleton; step-children, Bryan Michael Nearing of La Grande, Russanne Glen of Everett, Washington and Jennifer, Ashley and Tyler, at home; brothers, Rex Clinkenbeard of La Grande, Allen Clinkenbeard of Wallowa County, Terry Clinkenbeard of Imbler and Doug Clinkenbeard of Hermiston; several grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 1997.
