Lovene H. Case, age 85, of Alicel, died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church with The Rev. Mark Schlessman officiating. Committal and interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
Mrs. Case was born on January 31, 1920, the daughter of Storey and Agnes (Maroney) Morris in Lower Cove. She attended the Frosty School House near Lower Cove and then attended La Grande High School where she graduated with the class of 1937. On May 29, 1940 she married her grade school sweetheart, Wren Case at the family home in Lower Cove. She attended secretarial school and worked for Norton Clothing Store. She later became the ranch wife and mother, where she cooked and helped with anything needed on the ranch. She was a 4H Leader in cooking and cooked for Camp Elkana for 14 years and also at the Cove Christian Camp. She was an active member of the First Christian Church where she belonged to the Women's Fellowship and led a Bible Study Class until her death. She was a member of the Rusty Wheels Car Club. She enjoyed the mountains and going to their cabin on Mt. Harris.
Survivors include her husband, Wren Case of Alicel; children, Jerry Case, Stan Case and LaDella Wood, all of Alicel; grandchildren, Celia, Marcus, Justin and Chevey; seven great grandchildren; brother, Manford Morris of Lower Cove; sisters, Phyllis Smith of North Powder and Della Ehrenburg of New Jersey; and other relatives and friends. A grandson, Micha Wood and brother, Raymond, Mason and Judson Morris preceded her in death.
