Louise Lazenby, age 82, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at her home in Island City. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Sally Wiens officiating. Interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Louise Lazenby was born on June 5, 1922 the daughter of George and Edna (Bradford) Fisher in Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Lazenby later moved to San Francisco, California to be closer to family and attend schools and would graduated from high school in the bay area. After graduation she moved to Southern California where she worked as a grocery clerk. During her time as a clerk she met Lamar Lazenby who was working in the same grocery store in the produce department. On April 11, 1953 Lamar and Louise were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. After their time in Southern California, the couple moved to Northern California and then to Reno, Nevada before settling in La Grande in 1992 where they could be closer to family and attend to Louise who was having some health problems. Louise was a very talented artist and loved crafts, oil painting, cooking, gardening, working in her yard, ceramics, fishing and most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar Lazenby of Island City; children and their spouses, Michael and Debby Calvin of Kenya, Africa, Steve and Joyce Lazenby of Chico, California and Valarie and Dave Whelan of Summerville, Oregon; two grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
