Louise Adalee Hiatt

December 12, 1932 — April 2, 2011

Louise Adalee Hiatt, 78, of La Grande, died April 2 at her daughter's home in La Grande. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fox Cemetery at Fox.

Louise was born Dec. 12, 1932, to Fritz Karl and Anna Amelia (Pollman) Voigt at Maybell, Colo. When Louise was 18 months old, the family moved to Oregon, settling in Prairie City, where Louise attended school.

Louise and Robert Carson Hiatt married. She worked alongside her husband on their ranch for 43 years. Louise also cleaned houses for people in Long Creek.

Louise enjoyed reading, sewing and working in her yard. She was a member of the Long Creek Community Church for many years, and a member of Valley Fellowship.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathryn and Steve Merrick of Union, Mary Bennett of John Day, Donna and John Esser of La Grande and Bob Hiatt of La Grande; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Fritz and Anna Voigt; and her sister, Betty Gearhart.
