Loretta "Lori" Jean Martinez, 59, of Baker City, died peacefully March 12 in the presence of family and friends at St. Alphonsus Hospital. A private family memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in Baker City.
She was born Dec. 14, 1951, to Roderick and Myrtle Frazier in Canyon City. She grew up in the Prairie City area.
Lori enjoyed baking, quilting, crafting and going to yard sales.
Those who knew her say she was a talented painter. She loved keeping in contact with friends and family via Facebook and loved spoiling her grandchildren, which she explained was "only a payback."
Lori was married to Rudy Martinez until he died in 2002. The couple lived in Prairie City and Halfway and eventually settled in Baker City. While living in Baker City, Lori worked at the Blue and White Cafe and the Inland Cafe.
She enjoyed spending time with her sisters in Elgin. In fact, she lived with them from time to time.
She is is survived by six children: son, Adrian Martinez and his wife, Patty; son, Rudy Martinez; daughter, Tracy Martinez-Williams and her husband, Chad; daughter, Tera Martinez and partner, Bob; daughter, Trudi Lahaie and husband, Ryan; and son, Josh Martinez and wife Kelli. She is also survived by her sister, Georgia Shaffer and her husband, Jack; sister, Debbie Duckett; brother, Rick Frazier and his wife, Tammy; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; and parents, Rod and Myrtle.
The family suggests that memorial contributions go to OHSU Foundation, Colon Cancer Research (Lori's husband died of colon cancer) in care of Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543 Halfway 97834.
