Loretta Jean Jennings

Loretta Jean Jennings, age 87, of La Grande, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Valley Fellowship. Private interment will be held at the Island City Cemetery.

Loretta was born on March 31, 1924, the daughter of Arthur Lee Gorham and Vella B. Youncs Gorham in North Powder, Oregon. She attended Wolf Creek Grade School and graduated from Powder Valley High School with the class of 1942. On September 12, 1942 she married Max Jennings in La Grande. They moved to La Grande from North Powder in 1954. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1996. She was a member of Valley Fellowship where she enjoyed their many activities. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and yard and garden work.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Lee Babic of La Grande, son, Vernon Jennings of Island City, daughter, Marceen Rees of Orofino, Idaho; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by, son, Warren Jennings in 2008, Mother and Father Art and Vella and brothers, Orvan Gorham and Roland Gorham.

Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Valley Fellowship Youth Group or their favorite charity in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.
