Lorene V. DeMoss of La Grande, died Tuesday, July 5th at the age of 87 at the Grande Ronde Hospital after a heroic fight against an extended illness.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande.
Lorene was born September 5, 1934, to Lloyd E. and Lotus (Lovell) Ownby and was the oldest of their five daughters.
She married James “Jim” DeMoss in Eugene and together they had four children Carol, Dave, Terri and Kathy.
Lorene enjoyed her family and being outdoors, camping, hiking, mountain biking, yard work, especially mowing, weeding and tending flowers. She enjoyed hanging clothes out on the line but mostly she enjoyed being a wife and mother. She left a rich legacy and will be greatly missed. “We love her.”
After 63 years together, her husband Jim died in 2016.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Carol DeMoss of La Grande, Terri Bradshaw of Pendleton, Kathy Clark and her husband Don of North Powder and a daughter in law, Linda of La Grande; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild, sisters, Jean Kay Curtis of Eugene, Louise Stukey of Sherwood; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were her son, David, sisters, Virginia Bartlet, Violet Bolton and a son in law, Jerry.
