Lola Mae McManus, age 76, a lifetime resident of La Grande, died Sunday, December 21, 2003 at a local care facility. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2003 at the La Grande First Christian Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. McManus was born on October 29, 1927, the second to the youngest child of Charles Edward and Anna (Tauscher) Rogers in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1945 and in 1952 she married Claire McManus in La Grande. Mrs. McManus was well known for her musical talents and was blessed with perfect pitch. She taught private piano and organ lessons for over 50 years and played for various churches and for weddings and funerals. and with many groups over the years. She also accompanied the Union County Fair Maids.
Mrs. McManus was an active member of the La Grande First Christian Church and was involved with the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Sister Act. She was also a former member of the Soroptomists Club, the Eagles Lodge and the Union County Umbrella Ladies.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Tim and Laura McManus of La Grande and Cindy and Dave Grunert of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Jon, Michaela and Tim Grunert; sister and her husband, Betty and George Bohnenkamp of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Her son, Patrick and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
