Lola L. Houchin

January 29, 1933 — November 20, 2010

Lola L. Houchin, 77, of Reedsport and formerly of La Grande, died Nov. 20 at Mid Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles. A memorial gathering will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Skip Walchli's farm in Hermiston. A private family burial will be held at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield. She was born Jan. 29, 1933, to Clarence and Viola Shank Reid in Heppner.

Lola was raised and attended schools in Hermiston.

She married Jack D. Houchin Nov. 17, 1951, in Hermiston. They lived in Hermiston until moving to The Dalles in 1974 and then to La Grande in 1978.

They returned to Hermiston in 1984. Jack preceded her in death in 1997.

Lola moved to Newport in 2000. In 2004 she moved to Reedsport where she has lived since.

Lola enjoyed gardening, painting, woodworking, sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Verzani and Cookie Prickett and her husband, Don, all of Reedsport; brothers, Robert Reid of Heppner and Russel Reid of Mills City; sister, Clara Whitney of Murdock, Wash., and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Perry "James" Reid; and a sister, Mary Johnston.
