Lois E. Mitchell

April 21, 1926 — April 1, 2007

Lois E. Mitchell, age 80, of Redmond, and formerly of La Grande, died April 1, 2007 in Redmond. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street. Committal and interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on April 21, 1926, the daughter of Harold B. and Nancy B. (Luster) Doherty in Baker, Oregon. In September of 1946 she married Earl "Bob" Mitchell in Baker. She worked for First Interstate Bank in La Grande for over 30 years and spent her entire working years in banking, retiring in 1991. She was active in the Soroptomists, the Emblem Club #840, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Ladies of the Elks and the La Grande Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and gardening. She lived in La Grande for over 50 years, moving to Redmond a year and a half ago to be near family.

Survivors include her children, Bob Mitchell of Eatonville, Washington and Janis Montreuil of Redmond; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.

Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mrs. Mitchell to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
