Lois Arnhart

August 4, 1915 — June 21, 2010

Lois Arnhart, 94, of Joseph, died June 21 surrounded by her children. A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Joseph American Legion Hall.

She was born Aug. 4, 1915, to Oliver and Nora Hepburn in Joseph. She attended school on the Divide. Lois lived in Joseph most of her life. She was a great storyteller and historian of this area. She loved poetry and reading. She could recite poetry she learned as a child. All her grandchildren can recall stories she told them when they were younger.

Lois and her husband, Gene, loved to travel and camp on James Ridge. They would spend winters in Arizona, leaving in the fall and returning in the spring.

Survivors include her sons, Don and his wife, Janice, of Joseph, and Cliff and his wife, Shirley, of Heperia, Calif., daughter, Bobbi Chitwood and her husband, Harold, of Imnaha and Sharon Fisher and her husband, Jim, of Granbury, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; and extended family of the Alpine House.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Arnhart.
