Lloyd William "Bill" Robinson

July 11, 1923 — October 18, 2002

Lloyd William "Bill" Robinson, age 79, of La Grande, died Friday, October 18, 2002 at his home.


At his request there will be no public services. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the World War II Memorial in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon.


Mr. Robinson was born on July 11, 1923, the son of Lloyd Byron and Ellen Mabel (Overbay) Robinson in Wichita, Kansas. The family later moved to California and he completed his education in Weed, California. During World War II he served with the United States Army, spending three years in Europe.


Mr. Robinson worked as a truck driver for various companies until his retirement. He lived in Springfield, Oregon for 14 years before moving to La Grande in 1977. He was a member of the Grande Ronde Community Church and the VFW. In his younger years he served with the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed music and loved to cook. He was known as a loving and caring man who took care of his family and friend until the end of his life.


Survivors include his children, Brenda Sue Barber of Portland, Lloyd Robinson II of Redmond and Byron Robinson of Prineville; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Two sisters preceded him in death.
