Lewis Roy O'Mohundro, age 89, of La Grande, died March 20, 2016 at his home. A celebration of life, including Masonic services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. Entombment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
Lewis was born on February 12, 1927, the son of LeeRoy and Rosalie (Baker) O'Mohundro in Tacoma, Washington. When he was a young child the family moved to Union County. In 1944 he graduated from Imbler High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served two years. On January 1, 1949 he married Dorothy Christine Petersen in La Grande.
Lewis had many jobs in his lifetime including the Army Corps of Engineer and a contractor at McNary Dam before becoming a parts man at Roy Farnam Supply, Gateway Auto, Boise Cascade, Leighton Auto Parts and Colkits Napa Auto Parts in Union. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles and was active in the York Rite Masons, Scottish Rite Masons and the Shrine. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his children Richard and Debbie O'Mohundro of Portland and Sue O'Mohundro-Bailey and David Bailey of Corvallis; brother, Raymond O'Mohundro of Summerville; four grandchildren, Burns Lewis Bailey, Simone Bailey Wright and husband Hawkins Wright, Hannah Lou O'Mohundro and Tanis Ray O'Mohundro and wife Gabrielle O'Mohundro-Perez; three great grandchildren, Benjamin Burns Bailey, Liam Kane O'Mohundro and Elliott O'Mohundro; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Leslee Ann O'Mohundro, son, Lee Roy O'Mohundro; sister, Iris Pratt and brother Edwin Lee O'Mohundro.
