Leonard "Len" David Doyle

Leonard "Len" David Doyle, 83, of La Grande, died July 21 at a local nursing center. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Len was born May 2, 1927, to Cassius and Viola Trotter Doyle in Butte, Mont. His life was spent in Montana and La Grande.

During World War II, Len served in the Pacific theater with the Army and then went to serve his country in the Korean War. He was the American Legion past post commander.

Len was married to Betty Rose Doyle. She died in 1972. On Nov. 16, 1973, he married Bonnie M. Murphy. He was employed with the Boise Cascade particleboard plant for 23 years.

Len enjoyed camping, boating, black-powder shooting, hunting and open-wheel racing.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, George Doyle of Aberdeen, Idaho, Tom Stout of La Grande, Larry Stout of Crescent City, Calif., Sheryl Doyle of La Grande and James and his wife, Kim, of Phenix City, Ala.; sister, Jean Johnson of Challis, Idaho; brother, Clinton Shaw of Apache Junction, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Doyle; son, Leon Doyle; and brother, Doug Shaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel.
