Leonard Leroy Case, age 85, of Aloha, Oregon and formerly of La Grande, died Monday, September 16, 2002 at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Case was born on December 14, 1916, the son of Roy and Murriel (Van Cleve) Case in Mitchell, South Dakota. The family moved to La Grande in 1929. Mr. Case graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1934. In 1936 he married Frances Evans in Walla Walla, Washington. They moved to Portland after their marriage. He served with the United States Army during World War II and was an instructor at San Luis Obispo, California. After his honorable discharge he returned to Portland and worked for ARCO for 36 years before retiring.
Mr. Case was a member of the American Legion and the Elk Lodge. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Frances Case of Aloha; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sandra Case of Culver, Oregon and Sun City Grand, Arizona; son, Larry Case of Solana Beach, California; grandchildren, Cindy Murray of Poway, California, Shelley O'Dell of Walnut Creek, California and Holly Caporale of Escondido, California; six great grandchildren; brother, Royce Case of Beaverton, Oregon and other relatives and friends. A grandson, Scott Case and a sister, Eileen Granby preceded him in death.
