Leo L. Evans

October 10, 1910 — February 26, 2003

Leo Evans, age 92, of La Grande, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and interment will follow at the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Evans was born on October 10, 1910, the son of Thomas and Hannah Evans in Erickson, Nebraska. The family moved to La Grande when he was 9 years of age. In 1935 he married Anna Murchison in Walla Walla, Washington. She preceded him in death in 1987. He worked for Boise Cascade for thirty five years. Until his death he was the oldest living member of the Carpenter's Union.

Mr. Evans loved the outdoors and hunting. He loved the Grande Ronde Valley and never wanted to leave and he enjoyed taking drives around the valley.

Survivors include his children, Howard and Barbara Evans of Bellingham, Washington, Del & Christina Evans of San Diego, California, Marlene Brown of Ontario, Oregon and Lela and Ed McLaughlin of Twin Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
