Lena Wise, 86, of Stites, Idaho, and formerly of Wallowa County, died June 16 at a hospital in Cottonwood, Idaho. Her church hosted a memorial service and potluck June 23 at the Kooskie City Park in Idaho.
Lena was born Dec. 22, 1922, to Wayman and Millie Larkin in Minam. She married Chet Wise Nov. 5, 1945.
Lena loved hunting and was an active member of her church. She also wrote songs, short stories and poetry.
Her favorite hobby was music, especially playing her guitar. On holiday get-togethers, nearly everyone in the family had a musical instrument, so there was a lot of music around.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years in Stites; children, Lee and his wife, Kathy Wise, of Grangeville, Idaho, daughter, Lenta and her husband, Chuck Hall, of Kamaih, Idaho, and Yvette Wise of Cottonwood; three sisters, Evelyn Wise of Sutherlin, Barbara Raines of Wallowa and Bethel Stubblefield of Wallowa; brother, Jack Larkin of Boise; brother-in-law, Perry Wise of Emmett, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
