Lelia M. Stoop passed away November 24, 2006 at Evergreen Vista Health Center in La Grande at the age of 95. She was born in La Grande, October 25, 1911, the second of four girls, to Bill and Alta Winburn. She grew up in La Grande and graduated from La Grande High School.
She married Carl R. Stoop in 1933. Lelia had a long career as an accountant with Pacific Fruit and Produce in La Grande and then in Pendleton, Oregon. She and Carl moved to North Bend, Oregon where Lelia worked at St. Catherine's Nursing Home until she retired. In 2003, Lelia returned to La Grande to live at Wildflower Lodge until she moved to Evergreen Vista in 2005.
Lelia was preceded in death by her husband and her three sisters, Lawanna Miller of La Grande, Florence King of Redding, California and Velma Benham of Redmond, Washington. Lelia loved her family and because she didn't have children of her own, she was close to her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her nephews, Orville Miller of La Grande and Vern Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her nieces, LaVerta Kelley of Sammamish, Washington, Jeanne Hale of Everett, Washington and Barbara Frisbie of Dunsmuir, California. She also leaves a numver of cousins and great nieces and great nephews. She will be greatly missed. At her request there will be no service and interment will be with her husband at the La Grande Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
