Leigh Jay Megargee

Leigh Jay Megargee, 57, of La Grande, died May 26 at his home. A celebration of life is set for Saturday. Call Melinda at 916-398-0368 for details.

Leigh was born Aug. 23, 1953, in Sacramento, Calif., to Stanleigh Joseph and Shirley Ann (Kunze) Megargee. He lived in Colorado where he said he was the first 18-year-old to ever vote in Rifle, Colo. He is the father of two daughters, Lisa and Dana.

Leigh was a car collector and those who knew him say he was a gifted mechanic. He also enjoyed drawing art sketches.

Leigh is survived by his daughters, Lisa Ann Megargee of La Grande and Dana Leigh Megargee of Elgin; sisters, Melinda K. Gansberg of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Kelly Jo Garska of Savannah, Tenn.; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanleigh and Shirley, and his brother, Gordon Scott
