Lee Wahlstrom

Lee Wahlstrom, 72, of Eugene and formerly of La Grande, died July 10 of cancer.

Memorial services begin at 11 a.m. Saturday July 14 at the First Christian Church in Eugene. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug 2 at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.

Lee was born March 18, 1935, to Theresa and Herbert Wahlstrom in Superior, Wis. He married Carol Hodgen June 20, 1959 in Milton-Freewater.

Lee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwest Christian College and received a master's of theology from Lexington Theological Seminary. He was an ordained minister for the Disciples of Christ, a paramedic and a lifetime volunteer fireman and chaplin in La Grande from 1976 to 1997.

Lee was a member of the La Grande Lions, the Emerald Empire Kiwanis Club in Eugene and the First Christian Church in La Grande and Eugene. He was a singer with the Eugene Gleemen.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Wahlstrom; children, Larry Wahlstrom and Eric Wahlstrom of Eugene and Jane Grodem of San Carlos, Calif.; siblings, Jerry Wahlstrom of Buckley, Wash., Sandie Smith of Auburn, Wash., and Francine Rouse of Puyallup, Wash.; and two grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
