Laveta M. Caldwell Mohr

LaVeta M. Caldwell Mohr, age 91 formerly of La Grande, died October 8, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Henderson, Nevada. At her request, no public services were held. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

LaVeta M. Caldwell Mohr was born on June 18, 1913, the daughter of Mason and Ida (Steele) Caldwell in Dragon, Utah. She moved to La Grande at a young age with her parents. LaVeta attended schools in La Grande and Baker City. In 1940, LaVeta married William (Bill) A. Mohr. The couple were longtime residents of La Grande before moving to Santa Rosa, California in the 1950's, and thereafter visited La Grande frequently. She was employed as a Sonoma County, California nurse until she retired. In 2001 LaVeta moved to Henderson, Nevada to live with her niece, La Grande native Sharon Ferguson Burke, where she resided until her death.

Survivors include her sister and former La Grande resident, Margaret Holloway of Ohio; sister-in-law Barbara Caldwell of La Grande; two grandsons of California; three great-grandchildren of California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill) A. Mohr; son Richard (Dick) Mohr of Santa Rosa, California; sisters Lois Ferguson, Norma Lester and brother Donald Caldwell, all of La Grande.
