Kevin Ray Metcalf

June 17, 1960 — April 3, 2005

Kevin Ray Metcalf, age 44, formerly of Summerville, died, Sunday, April 3, 2005 in a automobile accident near Robertson, Wyoming. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Kevin Ray Metcalf was born on June 17, 1960, the son of Paul and Bertha (Self) Metcalf in Eugene, Oregon. The family moved to Crescent, Oregon and then settled in Summerville in 1968. Kevin attended schools in La Grande and Imbler before graduating with the Imbler High School class of 1978. He was honored with national athletic awards including All-American honors in track and field. He held school records in the hurdles and the triple jump. After high school Kevin attended Eastern Oregon University and Southwestern College in Coos Bay, Oregon. Upon his return to the Grande Ronde Valley and worked construction with his father for three years and was later employed with the Coca Cola Bottling Company, Union Pacific Railroad as an Engineer and DB Jet Enterprises as a firefighter before moving to Wyoming in November of 2004 to work for a lumber company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the mountains, rock hunting, looking for old bottles, and collecting elk and deer horns.


Survivors include his parents, Paul and Bert Metcalf of Summerville; brothers, Kirt Metcalf of Grants Pass, Oregon; Kip and spouse, Marti Metcalf of Bend, Oregon; nieces, Abigail, Crystal and Courtney Metcalf and other relatives and friends.
